EPRI, the foremost research and development institute for
the electric power industry, and CA Advisors have been cooperating to develop and
implement Analytical RCM (Reliability-centered Maintenance) tools. This has been a decidedly successful collaboration as it has identified
a promising potential for applying analytical techniques within the RCM framework.
We have completed a pilot study, which has provided
valuable insight into the applicability of Analytical RCM.
We have been able to demonstrate that a well-designed and carefully crafted tool to analyze the reliability
characteristics of parts can supply important information that can be used in maintaining parts while increasing
performance and controlling costs concurrently.
